LATEST UPDATE
January 27th, 2021
As the current restrictions in place have no definite end-date, we continue to wait for any news we might hear from the government or Curling Alberta. As of right now, our only source of information is the same as you - the daily updates from Dr. Deena Hinshaw. We all are patiently waiting and hoping to get on the ice soon!
Jan 7 Update
Effective January 7th, 2021, the Beaumont Curling Club will remain closed until January 21st, 2021.
Happy New Year Beaumont curlers!!!
I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday as best as you could. On Christmas, I made 4 dishes consisting of turkey (obviously right?!), potatoes, carrots, and macaroni salad. It was just my mom and I so we didn't need too much stuff, although there were tons of leftovers. After Christmas I took the time to start cleaning and organising my basement. New Years was spent pretty much just lounging around waiting for the clock to hit 12am and then right to bed.
I took some time to think about our club and how we move forward after this season if and when we get back to curling. It will take a lot of work for us to continue to grow our club which is typically a goal every year. There's many ways to do this, but a great way is to reach out to the general public at farmers' markets and other tradeshows or craft fairs, that of which was difficult in 2020 and likely part-way into 2021. These events generally need volunteers as well (hint hint 😊)
We are patiently waiting to hear from the government on updating restrictions. Whatever the outcome, I will work hard during this time to come up with some ways to try and keep you all involved as well as drumming up the spirit of curling and our club to bring in new curlers. Maybe we'll see what we can do in the summer too.
One way to stay involved for now is to support us in our online 50/50. We've had to extend the draw date to March 1st as our minimum payout is $2400 and our sales currently sits at $890. So... if you want to win some cold hard cash, head to https://rafflebox.ca/raffle/beaumontcc
Keep it curling, Beaumont!

Nov 28 Update
Effective November 28th, 2020, the Beaumont Curling Club will remain closed until January 4th, 2021.
After having discussions with Curling Alberta and the Edmonton and Area Curling Clubs, the Board of Directors met late yesterday evening. It is of mutual understanding that curling and any other indoor sports will likely not be able to apply for or receive an exemption until after December 18th. This means we will not be returning to curling until at least the New Year. If able to, we are planning for a January 4th, 2021 launch back into the season,
The Board has made the decision to not open for Individual Practice during these 3 weeks of restrictions. Although we believe that curling is a very safe sport with all the protocols in place, given that there are many other restrictions on other sports and businesses, including the closure of our lounge (since teammates can't sit together unless they live together), we feel that this is the best decision. By remaining closed for these next 3 weeks, we are able to save some costs as well which helps us to survive and get through this unnatural time.
I apologise for the inconvenience to you all. Going into the season, we were very hopeful that we wouldn't be shutdown like this. Our fingers are crossed that we can return in January to kick-off the season again!
A friendly reminder that our online 50/50 is up and running now. Any support that you, your friends, or your family could give is very much appreciated. https://rafflebox.ca/raffle/
Please take good care of yourselves. When we know more information, I will be sure to share it with all of you. This includes our return date, rescheduled games (plan to curl into mid-April), and credits. For now, have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and wishing you all the best into the New Year!
